Personalism and Ideology in Maltese Politics – Daniel Gafa’ is the title of the next Works in Progress Seminar Series (WIPSS) which will be a webinar on Wednesday, the 15th of May at 6pm.

This seminar will discuss the aspects of personalism and the role of ideology in Maltese politics. Personalism refers to the closeness between the political class and the electorate.

The politicians’ main motivations for their political involvement, the political parties’ primary sources of identity, and the commonalities and differences between different political parties in Malta will be explored.

This research included interviews with top-party officials and front-line politicians from main and small political parties, and an independent candidate.

Daniel Gafa’ has obtained a Master of Arts in Sociology and his research interests are political sociology; space and place.
