Pjazza Santa Margerita project inaugurated in Sannat

Prime Minister Robert Abela has inaugurated the regeneration project of Pjazza Santa Margerita in Sannat, which, he said, is one of the largest public spaces on the island of Gozo, making it more accessible with pedestrian areas for the enjoyment of the public.

The project was carried out by the Ministry for Gozo together with the Local Council of Sannat.

In his address, the PM reiterated that ”this Government brings positive change, including in Gozo, where it continues to provide open spaces to the community.”

It was explained that as part of the project all the paving was changed and the pavements were made accessible. New street furniture was also installed.Pjazza Santa Margerita project inaugurated in SannatWork was done to renovate the church’s parapet, new lights were installed that make efficient use of energy, as well as bollards that will help to have structured parking in the square.

The entire square now has a reinforced concrete base that can withstand the weight of vehicles. All existing services were relocated underground.

Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri said that this project was carried out with coordinated and joint work between the Ministry and the Local Council, where the square, which is spread over more than 4,000 square metres, has been regenerated and will be returned to the Sannat community and the Gozitan people.

The Mayor of Sannat Local Council Philip Vella also spoke during the inauguration. The Sannat Local Council as well as the residents were present for the occasion.
