The National Blood Transfusion Service has expressed its thanks to all those who continue to donate blood even during the hot months of summer.
The Service is, as always urging Gozitans to show their solidarity and please support sick patients in the hospitals of Gozo and Malta by making a donation on one of the four dates that are shown below during July, the first one being Tuesday, the 9th of July.
All blood components have a definite shelf-life and can’t be stockpiled, which is why continuous donations are required.
Red cell concentrates are stored for up to 42 days; fresh frozen plasma for 3 years, and platelets for only 5 days.
Please keep the blood supply stable by committing to becoming a regular donor.
Donations can be made at the District Health Centre in Xewkija, located in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club:
Sundays – last registration 1:00pm
14th July from 8:00am-1:00pm
23rd July from 8:00am-1:00pm
