92% of MUT members vote in favour of new sectoral agreement

The Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) has said that 92.27% of its members approved the new revised sectoral agreement on payment for teachers and working conditions.
In a statement, the MUT advised that 2462 were eligible to vote following their active registration. 2108 votes tallied and 35 abstained. 1945 voted in favour, 163 voted against.
The union said that ”this is the conclusion of a 1.5-year long process of negotiations with the Government, which was preceded by several months of preparatory work including consultations with members.”
The MUT said that it has communicated formally with the Minister of Education to proceed with the signing of the new agreement.
