A 44-year old Polish man sustained serious injuries after jumping off a boat at Comino on Sunday afternoon.

Police said that the incident happened at at around 3pm, when the man and a 12-year old boy jumped from a boat and ended up on top of each other.

The man was given first aid by members of the Emergency response and Rescue Corps before being transferred to Mgarr Harbour and from there to the Gozo General Hospital.

He was later certified to be in a serious condition and transferred to Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment.

Duty Magistrate Dr Simone Grech was informed of the case and has appointed an inquiry.

Police investigations are ongoing.
