By the end of June, Central Government Debt totalled €9,981.1 million, the National Statistics Office said that this was €810.3 million higher than the corresponding month in 2023.

NSO data released today also shows that by the end of June, Government’s Consolidated Fund registered a deficit of €89.8 million.

Compared to the previous year, recurrent revenue and total expenditure increased by €484.0 million and €315.2 million, respectively.

The NSO noted that this increase in recurrent revenue outweighed that in expenditure leading to a positive change in the Government’s Consolidated Fund by €168.8 million.

The largest rise in revenue was recorded under Income Tax (€325.6 million), while Programmes and Initiatives (€232.7 million) reported the biggest increase among the expenditure categories.
