A three-year old boy has died after falling into a pool at a residence in Triq il-Kortoll, Xaghra, Gozo. on Saturday afternoon.

Police said that the accident happened at around 4.15pm. The boy had fallen into the pool and found himself in difficulty.

Police officers were the first to arrive on the scene followed by a medical team, who provided immediate assistance. The child was taken to the Gozo General Hospital, where he died shortly afterwards.

Magistrate Brigitte Sultana was informed is leading an inquiry.

Police investigations are ongoing.
