The National Building Council has welcomed the introduction of Legal Notice 184 of 2024 on the Mason’s License Regulations, which ensures that those working in the masonry trade will be kept up to date within the evolving landscape of the building and construction industry.

The Council explained that these new regulations establish a Mason’s Licensing Committee which is expected to elevate the standards of the workforce by certifying that Masons are qualified to work in a construction site.

The NBC said that it “trusts that this Committee will exercise its powers and responsibilities professionally and objectively.”

The NBC added that it was present during the discussions of these regulations and has commended the Ministry for taking this step forward.

The NBC stressed that, “this is only the start of what is required in order to revise decades old laws and address other lacunae within the industry’s regulatory framework.”

It went on to say that it “will keep insisting on further discussions with a short-medium and long term strategy plans which are necessary for the industry.”

The National Building Council is a partnership between the Malta Development Association and the Kamra tal-Periti conceived with a “joint vision to set the benchmark in the construction and property development industry.”
