The Gozo Regional Development Authority is presenting a document on its project proposals for Victoria Urban Upgrading, saying it is “moving from concept to project proposal.” The document can be viewed in full by clicking here.

The GRDA said that it is “building on the initial concept” it presented in its “Vision Document” and on the feedback received during the public consultation which was conducted from June to September 2023.

The updated proposal covers the project developments across two sites in the heart of Victoria, firstly with an urban regeneration project spread out over 22,000 square metres in the centre.

The GRDA said that central to this vision is the fact that the area that is currently occupied by a car park will be transformed into a green open space accessible to everyone, while a football pitch with an underground car park will also be created that will accommodate around 280 vehicles. The Victoria playground would also be upgraded, as would the bus terminus.

The second site covers the small car park at Pjazza l-Assedju l-Kbir, proposes that the present area is turned into a car park on several levels complemented by a green open space.
