A call has been issued for ‘school grannies’ by the Active Ageing and Community Care Directorate in collaboration with Xaghra Local Council.
It was explained that the responsibilities of the school grannies include being present near the school premises for an hour to accompany children during their entry and exit, following a schedule that will be prepared by the Local Council.
The Directorate said that this initiative is to motivate older individuals, including those who may be retired, to remain actively engaged within the community, all while fostering meaningful intergenerational connections.
School grannies are paid at the rate of €5.50 per hour.
Interested individuals should collect an application from the Xaghra Local Council office and submit it by not later than the 18th of September. For more information please call on 21563737.
