Fjakkolata: Spectacular evening celebration of light in Santa Lucija

A Celebration of LightNext Sunday, Ghar Ilma Hill will be lit up with thousands of lanterns – all set against the beautiful backdrop of the Gozitan countryside surrounding the heart of the quaint village of Santa Lucija in Gozo.

As the sun goes down the Fjakkolata begins just as it has for well over the 30 years, in celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, which falls on the 13th of October.

The evening gets underway at 6pm in the pretty square of Santa Lucija with the singing of Ave Maria echoing through the surroundings.

Also in the square at 8pm there will be a traditional performance by the Ta’ Verna Folk Band.Fjakkolata by Daniel CiliaThis very popular picturesque evening attracts visitors from all over the island to enjoy the spectacular scene from St. Lucija Square, where there will also be the chance to savour local food, together with the unique hospitality of this village.

The traditional Fjakkolata – Celebration of Light is taking place on Sunday, the 13th of October, the torches will start being lit from 7.00pm onwards, on Ghar Ilma Hill.
