Another payment of the In Work Benefit is being made by the end of this week. This payment covers the period between July and September 2024, the government has said.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Social Policy, in total, 23,673 families will be receiving the benefit which is paid to working parents who have children under 23 years of age.

There are three categories of parents:

1. Couples both work with employment income less than €50,000 per year;

2. Couples with one of the parents working with employment income less than €35,000 per year; and

3. Single parents who work with income from employment less than €35,000 per year.

The Ministry said that in each case there is a minimum income that such families must have to qualify. The income information is collected automatically by the Tax Department and therefore the beneficiaries do not need to apply.
