The Xaghra Local Council said it is proud to announce that it will hold the eleventh edition of the Christmas Grand Concert which this year will be entitled “…Et Incarnatus Est….”

The concert will take place on Tuesday, the 22nd of December 2009, at the Collegiate Basilica of the Nativity of Our Lady in Xaghra (Gozo) and starts at 7.30pm.

For this year’s edition, the Xaghra Local Council invited the Laudate Pueri choir (the Saint George’s Basilica choir) to perform a selection of popular and traditional Christmas Carols. Most of the carols will be interpreted a cappella.

During the concert, leading organist Dr. Joseph Camilleri LLD, hailing from Xaghra, performs some musical pieces on the majestic organ of the Basilica. The choir will be under the direction of Rev. Can. George Frendo and leader Dr. Maria Frendo.

During the activity, donations will be given in aid of the Community Chest Fund so that the spirit of generosity is felt during Christmas time.

The Council added that it is grateful for the invaluable support of the Xaghra Archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo together with the Most Reverend Chapter and Clergy of the Collegiate. Appreciation should also go the Cultural Committee within the Ministry for Gozo. Financial sponsorship for the Concert is generously being provided by Gozitan and Maltese businesses, individuals and by the Education Ministry.

Everyone is invited for this concert and entrance is free. Those attending are kindly asked to be seated by 7.15pm.
