In October, the monthly unemployment rate was 3.0%, this was at par with the previous two months, the National Statistics Office said today. The figure was down by 0.3 percentage points on last year.

The number of unemployed persons was 9,687, and the NSO noted that the 25 to 74 age group was once again the major contributor to the overall level of unemployment.

The unemployment rate for males was 3.2%, down by 0.1 percentage point on the previous month, while the rate for females stood at 2.6% remaining stable on September.

The unemployment rate during October for persons aged 15 to 24 years (youth unemployment rate) was 9.2% cent while the rate for those aged between 25 and 74 years stood at 2.4%.
