Leader of the Nationalist Party Bernard Grech is in Gozo this weekend and on Saturday he visited Dar Arka in Ghajnsielem among others.

He remarked that “the function of voluntary organisations in our country is crucial. Their work is spread across Malta and Gozo and thanks to them, our society is richer.”

During his visit at Dar Arka the PN Leader said he heard about the challenges faced by organisations that offer support to people with disabilities. “The challenges are not small but the enthusiasm and energy of everyone I spoke to this morning testifies to their willingness to offer a service,” Grech said.

He went on to say that he could see the result of the work of these organisations in the smiling faces of the residents of Dar Arka, who welcomed him with them for a short time.

Among the things that the NGOs stressed the most was the need for action and not just words. “They said that they need to be not only consulted when it comes to disability, but more importantly they should be participants in decisions regarding disability,” said Grech.

He stressed that no sector can progress if those who work in it are not an integral part of the decision-making process.

Bernard Grech concluded by saying that he wished “further fruitful work to the Voice for Inclusion Gozo Association, the Gozo Association for the Deaf, the Arka Foundation, the Ability for Disability Association, the Gozo Association for the Visually Impaired and all the voluntary organisations in Malta and Gozo. We are grateful to you.”
