Gozo contributed 4.2% of GDP in 2023, with 11.8% increase in GVA

According to latest data from the National Statistics Office, estimates for 2023 indicate that the contribution of Gozo and Comino region to national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) accounted to 4.2%, or €869.0 million.
In 2023, Gross Added Value (GVA) at basic prices in Gozo and Comino region and Malta region increased by 11.8% and 12.6% respectively and was estimated at €807.2 and €18,250.1 million respectively over 2022.
In 2023, GDP per capita in Gozo and Comino region stood at 58.2% when compared to national level while that of Malta region was 103.1%.
The NSO noted that relative to Malta region, the Gozo and Comino economy is characterised by a higher proportion of economic activity resulting from Public administration and defence; Compulsory social security; Education; Human health and social work activities.
