The Union of Professional Educators said that on Thursday, “two mothers, known to the Police for their history of alleged criminal cases, stormed Zebbug Primary School in Gozo, allegedly threatening both students and teachers with death threats. This alarming incident appears to stem from ongoing issues at school.”

In a statement on Friday, the UPE said that “in the wake of this shocking event, the Union of Professional Educators has stepped in to support the school staff. The Union is in contact with educators at Zebbug Primary School and is providing guidance and expert legal advice on how to navigate this troubling situation.”

The Union and its members “strongly condemned” the behavior exhibited by the parents and are advocating for increased security measures at the school to ensure the safety of both students and staff.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, but the event has understandably raised concerns among the school community, the UPE said.

The Union of Professional Educators insisted that “the Minister of Education must take immediate action to enhance security at the school, ensuring that such incidents do not recur and that a safe learning environment is preserved for all students.”

The Union concluded by saying that it will continue to monitor the situation.
