Prime Minister Robert Abela visited two businesses during his visit to Gozo on Friday that “have continued to flourish following the support they received,” the Government said in a statement.
Accompanying the Prime Minister on visits to David’s Bakery in Kercem and to the Krispinu Farm in Sannat were Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri and the Minister for Agriculture Anton Refalo.
At David’s Bakery, Abela noted the resilience of a family business that now employs 85 people full-time. It was explained that this Gozitan company offers local products and has grown in the industry related to bread production.
The company said that it is becoming “more dynamic and offers different products to consumers on the market.” Minister Clint Camilleri described the company as an excellent example of Gozitan businesses overcoming other challenges, including insularity.
During the visit to Krispinu Farm, the Prime Minister was informed that this farm hosts training in livestock farming for many young people so that they can continue to work in this important sector to society.
It was noted that this farm has benefited from public and European funds under schemes in favour of innovation in the operation of this farm.
The operators of Krispinu Farm also explained how during the pandemic they received the necessary support to sustain production operations despite significant challenges.
Minister Anton Refalo stated that “the financial assistance given to farmers and ranchers in recent years has resulted in more work and success for them, while we have continued to ensure the best production of local products for the Maltese and Gozitan consumer.”
