The HSBC Malta Foundation has extended its congratulations to Nature Trust – FEE Malta for being awarded the Energy Globe Award, in a “significant recognition of the Vision for Sustainable Practices in Malta.”

The award was presented for the project Wildlife Rehabilitation and Nature Park – Adaptive Reuse of Industrial Heritage.

The premises operated by Nature Trust – FEE Malta, is the ex-Deutsche Welle Radio Station, and is now the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Nature Park Conservation Project Malta.

The Foundation explained that this is considered to be the most prestigious international award for sustainability – a confirmation that the conservation of industrial heritage and adaptive reuse are recognised.The Foundation highlighted the fact that the project presented challenges over the years up to completion – it required an integrated approach, innovative solutions, new materials and advanced solutions in concrete, digital technologies and monitoring among key interventions – to transform the building complex and the entire peninsula into the first Wildlife Rehabilitation and Sustainable Development Centre in the Maltese Islands.

“The valuable contribution of many over several years was key – the Centre and Park development were only possible thanks to the perseverance of those who believed in this journey up to completion and the foresight of Nature Trust – FEE Malta – Vincent Attard and his team,” said the Foundation.

The HSBC Malta Foundation said that it has been supporting and collaborating with Nature Trust Malta for quite a number of years. Xrobb L-Ghagin Nature Park and Wildlife Rehab Centre.
