Gozo carnival organisations assistance scheme relaunchedThe relaunch has been announced of the financial assistance scheme that will provide funding to carnival organisations in Gozo.

This funding will enable the organisations to rent premises that can be used for the construction of carnival floats or grotesque masks for the Gozo Regional Carnival 2026.

Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri launched the scheme for the second consecutive year, saying that “the purpose of the scheme is to continue to strengthen the Carnival in Gozo which is an important part of our cultural identity that attracts local audiences, as well as from Malta and overseas, therefore also making an economic contribution to Gozo, both directly and indirectly.”

Each applicant will be reimbursed up to a maximum of €25,000 per year for the building of floats and up to a maximum of €10,000 per year for the building of grotesque mask, to cover the rent of the premises in both cases.

The building must be rented for a minimum period of one year, with the possibility of an extension on an annual basis.

The application can be made online, where guidelines and regulations of the scheme, including the eligibility criteria, are also available.

It can also be delivered by hand to the Head Office of the Directorate for Cultural Heritage, 11, Triq it-Telgha tal-Kastell, Victoria.

Interested parties are encouraged to consult the Guidelines and Regulations available on the website to ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria. A Selection Board, appointed by the Ministry, will analyse each application to ensure that they meet the established criteria, it said.
