San Lawrenz Local Council has officially launched a new project aimed at improving accessibility for local farmers by upgrading another vital farm road.

It said that this initiative, made possible through EU funds under Measure 4.3, is part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and ensuring that farmers have the necessary infrastructure to carry out their work effectively.

Measure 4.3 falls under the Rural Development Programme for 2014-2020, co-funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). This measure focuses on investments in rural infrastructure, particularly the improvement of farm roads and other access routes that are essential for agricultural activities.

The goal is to enhance farm efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and support sustainable farming practices. By improving infrastructure, Measure 4.3 helps rural communities remain viable and ensures that agricultural areas remain productive.

The project is set to enhance connectivity between farmlands, making the transportation of produce and equipment easier while also ensuring safer and more efficient access for farmers, said the Council.

Works are expected to progress in the coming weeks, the Council said it is committed to completing the road in a timely manner.

San Lawrenz Local Council concluded by saying it “remains dedicated to fostering a strong agricultural community, ensuring that local farmers receive the necessary support to continue their vital role in preserving the rural character of the locality.”
