Today’s data from the National Statistics Office show that in February, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the RPI continues to rise, this time to 1.9%, up from 1.4% in January.

The highest annual inflation rates in February were registered in other goods and services (3.8%) and beverages and tobacco (3.4%).

The lowest annual inflation rates were registered in water, electricity, gas and fuels (0.0%) and housing (0.3%).

The NSO noted that the largest contribution to the overall annual inflation was measured in the food index (+0.51 percentage points), largely due to higher prices of restaurant services.

No downward contributions to the overall annual inflation were registered in the aggregates of the 10 groups presented for the month of February, the NSO said.

The 12-month moving average rate for February stood at 1.5%.
