Tomorrow, Tuesday, the 22nd of April, has been declared as a day of mourning in respect of His Holiness Pope Francis.
The Government said that the day of Pope Francis’ funeral will also be observed as a day of national mourning. On that day, public functions and activities of the Government will be cancelled.
All flags on public buildings and offices are to be flown at half-mast on both dates, the Government said.
“Pope Francis was the leader of the Catholic Church and a symbol of social justice and peace for the peoples of the whole world,” the Government said.
The Government urged all Maltese and Gozitan people to join in this final tribute of respect by observing these days of mourning.
