289 traffic accidents reported in Gozo during second quarter

There were 289 reported traffic accident in Gozo during the second quarter of this year, down by 5 or -1.7% on 2024, the National Statistics Office said today. No fatalities were reported in Gozo.
Of the 289 accidents, 257 were reported as non-injury road traffic accidents, up by 2 on 2024, or 0.8%. There were 32 reported with injuries involved, down by 7 on last year, or -17.9%.
Victoria once again recorded the highest number of accidents with 81, this was followed by Xewkija with 53, Ghajnsielem 39 and Nadur 25.
Also in Gozo – Fontana, Gharb, Ghasri, San Lawrenz and Kercem all registered five or below road traffic accidents.
On a national basis, during the second quarter there were five road traffic fatalities involving three drivers, a pedestrian and a cyclist. This figure was up be two on the same period last year.
Road traffic accidents decreased by 9.2% and casualties decreased by 16.1% when compared to the same period in 2024.
The NSO noted that between April and June the highest number of road traffic accidents occurred on Tuesdays with 645 cases or 16.0% of the total.
St Paul’s Bay registered the highest number of road traffic accidents at 240 cases.
