The project of the South Africa Mission in Swaziland, is supported by the ODA (Overseas Development Aid) funding and will enable the Red Cross team to train Instructors to run First Aid programmes in the most rural and under developed divisions.

The Malta Red Cross has also purchased several pieces of equipment that will be utilised and donated to the project, including 500 pieces of emergency response kits.

The 2nd stage of this project will be advised after the initial assessment. Train the Trainer courses which explain in detail the methodology and the interactive prowess of how to teach a trainer to train.

Mr Etienne Micallef, Head of Operations, Master Instructor, Secretary General Gozo Branch, Field Assessment and Coordination Teams (FACT) member, will be leading the team. Mr. Micallef was also the team leader that led the Tsunami Project in Sri Lanka 5 years ago.

He will be accompanied on the trip by Mr Marvic Attard, Instructor and EMT (Emergency Medica lTechnician), also from the Gozo Branch, who was also on the initial team that went to the Sri Lanka Tsunami.

This project is inline with the Disaster Response Team’s infrastructure in Swaziland.
