Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri has addressed a Business Breakfast organised by the Gozo Regional Development Authority which brought together Gozitan social partners, with the theme – Connections, Plans and Priorities.
The Minister said that the Gozo Regional Development Authority has not only continued to strengthen its position in Gozo but more than that it has continued to demonstrate its relevance in the socio-economic context of the island with a sizeable number of studies, some of which have led to changes in policies and in the operation of certain services.
He pointed out how the ‘Gozo: Island of Villages’ strategy has brought a clear vision for Gozo for the coming years that places Gozo in a dimension that it deserves because there is a mutual agreement, that the needs of Gozo are different from those of Malta.
Minister Camilleri noted how this Authority “has implemented no less than 93% of the Corporate Plan that covered the last three years and expressed his conviction that the new Corporate Plan, which the Authority launched during the Business Breakfast, will be implemented as happened with the previous one.”
“I am convinced that as the GRDA has done in the last 5 years, it will continue to do so in the future, by presenting studied and objective proposals that truly translate into changes and improvements that all residents of Gozo will benefit from,” concluded Minister Camilleri.
Ivan Falzon, Chief Executive of GRDA, gave an overview of the Authority’s work over the past year. He listed the number of initiatives it has worked on while giving an overview of the Corporate Plan launched by the Authority which covers the next three years.
Falzon stressed that several measures in this updated Corporate Plan include initiatives on mobility and strengthening connectivity.
The Business Breakfast was also addressed by Marice Grech, Head of Unit from the National Statistics Office, by Maria Xuereb, Chief Credit Officer of the Malta Development Bank and by Juergen Attard, Senior Manager within the Gozo Regional Development Authority.
The event was held as part of the Authority’s strategy, which is to “maintain regular contact and update its partners with everything that is going on in the Authority’s work.”
