In the first days of the year, the Police said that it successfully carried out a forced return operation of a man to his country of origin in North Africa.

The Police said that in 2025, the man had been charged in court with offences related to theft and drug possession in St Julian’s, among others. He was found guilty and handed a two-year prison sentence suspended for four years.

Following the court ruling, a Return Decision and Removal Order were issued and the individual was held in a detention centre until all arrangements for his repatriation were finalised.
