The Agriculture Ministry has advised farmers that, due to the severe storm that hit the Maltese islands between yesterday and today, a reporting process is being launched to collect detailed information on the damage sustained by agricultural production.

As from Wednesday, the 21st of January, farmers are encouraged to submit geotagged photographs via the Biedja Cam platform, along with details of the affected fields and crops.

It explained that the aim of this process is to collect photographic and geographical evidence of the damage, analyse the impact at a national level, and carry out on-site verifications during the coming week.

This information will be used by the Government to present information to the European Commission in order to consider drawing up an aid scheme.

Farmers must submit their photos by this Friday evening. The Ministry said that it is important to note that in the event that a relief scheme related to this storm is launched, only farmers who submit their submission via Biedja Cam by Friday may be eligible.
