A 30-year old Hungarian tourist has been arrested by Police after he was allegedly caught carving numbers on a stone at the Ggantija Temples in Xaghra, Gozo.
The man was arrested after a bystander spotted him vandalising part of the temple with a stone.
The Police said that the damage was not extensive and investigations are ongoing.
Back in March 2023, an Italian student was fined €15,000 and sentenced to two years imprisonment suspended for four years – the maximum period permitted in law – after being caught vandalising stone at the Ggantija Temples.
The 18-year-old student had been visiting the site as part of a school trip.
