CPD Gozo has land firefighting section and maritime firefighting and rescue sectionThe Civil Protection Department in Gozo is currently operating from two distinct specialist sections: the land firefighting section and the maritime firefighting and rescue section, said Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri

He explained that the equipment available in Gozo is diverse including a number of fire engines, grass firefighting vehicles, hazmat equipment, sea rescue boats, water bowsers and vehicles used in traffic accidents and rescue, among others.

The Minister was replying to a Parliamentary Question tabled by the Opposition Spokesperson for Gozo Chris Said on the types of vehicles, equipment and specialist sections available in Gozo.

Minister Camilleri went on to say that “we have also continued to invest in human resources with better conditions and better protective clothing.”

He concluded by saying that in the near future there will be another medium-sized fire engine in Gozo, as well as a specialised vehicle for chemical incidents in Gozo. “This is as part of the modernisation and continuous investment in Civil Protection.”
