There were 245 reported traffic accident in Gozo during the fourth quarter of last year, with the highest recorded percentage increase on the previous year of all the districts at 20.1% or 41 accidents, the National Statistics Office said today. No fatalities were reported in Gozo.

Of the 245 accidents, 216 were reported as non-injury road traffic accidents, up by 39 on 2024, or 22.0%. There were 29 reported with injuries involved, up by 2 on last year, or 7.4%.

Victoria once again recorded the highest number of accidents with 67, this was followed by Ghajnsielem 44 and Xewkija 38.

Also in Gozo – Fontana, San Lawrenz and Ghasri registered less than 5 road traffic accidents.

On a national basis, during the fourth quarter there were two road traffic fatalities involving one male and one female.

Road traffic accidents decreased by 6.7% and casualties decreased by 10.8% when compared to the same period in 2024.

The NSO noted that between October and December, the highest number of road traffic accidents occurred on Fridays with 609 cases or 16.5% of the total.

Qormi registered the highest number of road traffic accidents at 202 cases.
