Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri announced the completion of another three roads: Triq Ras in-Newwiela, Sannat, Triq Wied Juno and Triq Ghajn Abdul, Kercem – with work underway on Triq Ta’ Spiteri in Kercem.

After changes to the water mains by the WSC in part of Triq Seguna and part of Triq Ras in-Newwiela Road, Sannat, these parts of the residential roads were given a new look.

Extensive work has also been carried out to rebuild the secondary roads that connect the villages of Kercem and Santa Lucija with the village of San Lawrenz. This project in Kercem includes interventions over a total length of 2.7 kilometres, covering an area of ??approximately 18,000 sq.m, the Minister said.

Minister Camilleri explained that “this is a secondary link that will be serving not only the surrounding farmers, but these two kilometres of roads will also be providing a better secondary service between the two villages.”He added that “this is an investment with European Funds so that Triq Wied Juno as well as Triq Ghajn Abdul are now practically ready. The final works are also currently underway on Triq Spiteri which is also expected to be completed in the coming weeks.”

The Minister stated that “this is an investment that is being made in our roads, an investment in residential roads, an investment like what is being made here in rural roads but which also provide good access to residential areas.”

It was explained that access is also being improved for 57 farmers, connectivity to 92 agricultural plots is being facilitated, mobility for agricultural vehicles and essential services is being improved, and rural infrastructure is being strengthened to support the sustainable development of Gozitan agriculture.

Minister Clint Camilleri concluded by saying that !work will continue so that the promise of 100 residential roads in three years is fulfilled, one road at a time.”
