Pope Benedict’s visit to Malta has been met by all Gozitans as a sharp contrast with that of St Paul. Even St Paul spent so many days on the island of Malta but missed an opportunity to visit the sister island. It’s so true to say that history repeats itself.
All the Gozitans wish His Holiness good health and humbly ask Him to bestow his blessing on us.

St paul did not have transport as nowadays,so this time it was for our bishop to see that the pope visit`s Gozo for just an hour or two.Bless us Your Holiness form Malta,hope to see you on t.v.
It is unfortunate, that the authorities did not deem it necessary to have the pope visit his flock in Gozo while on a 2 DAY visit. Although fault should be apportioned between the main organisers for this omission, it may -unfairly- be Holy Father that will get the majority of blame for this disregard.
The true comparison to this visit is the one that Pope John Paul II (2 DAYS), may God rest his soul, did in May 1990 where he deemed it appropriate to visit the faithful in Gozo.

You make a very valid point here Mr Attard.
I think that this is the usual case of the government in Malta ignoring Gozo, together with the also usual case of the government here in Gozo doing absolutely nothing to persuade them to do otherwise.

My reference to authorities had more to do with church officials, which in a situation like this, should have a good deal of leverage here.
But obviously a push from any angle of society may have helped.

Yes I agree with you 100%, the church authorities should certainly have done more, and of course still could.
