In February, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index remained at a constant rate of 2.5%.

Data from the National Statistics Office released today revealed that the largest contribution to the overall annual inflation was measured in the food index (+0.78 percentage points), largely due to the higher prices of vegetables.

The highest annual inflation rates in February were registered in other goods and services (4.8%) and food (3.6%).

The lowest annual inflation rates were registered in clothing and footwear (-1.9%) and water, electricity, gas and fuels (0.0%).

A downward contribution to the overall annual inflation was registered in the clothing and footwear index (-0.13 percentage points), mainly reflecting lower prices of garments, the NSO said.

The 12-month moving average rate for February stood at 2.5%.
