The Malta Tourism Authority, together with Team Blue Lagoon, said that they are installing eight new visitor information booths across Malta and Gozo.
The MTA said that the new kiosks are currently being installed in strategic locations to provide tourists and locals with easier access to information, assistance, and guidance before visiting the Blue Lagoon.
The eight booths will be located as follows:
One in Mgarr, Gozo
Three in Sliema
One in Bugibba
One in Mellieha
One in Cirkewwa
One in Marfa
Staff stationed at these visitor information points will assist visitors with the “Book, Protect & Enjoy” system, provide information about access procedures, environmental protection measures, safety regulations, ”and help ensure a smoother and more organised visitor experience,” the MTA said.
It insisted that the “Book, Protect & Enjoy” system ”continues to play a key role in protecting the sensitive Natura 2000 site while improving the overall quality of visits to the Blue Lagoon.”
Visitors can reserve their free access online through bluelagooncomino.mt by selecting one of three available time slots:
08:00 – 13:00
13:30 – 17:30
18:00 – 22:00
Each booking generates a unique QR code which is redeemed for a wristband at the official entry points. The MTA warned that unauthorised access may be subject to fines.
The system limits access to a maximum of 4,000 visitors at any one time, helping preserve the area while ensuring a safer and more enjoyable environment for everyone, the MTA said.
In addition to the booking system, all protective and operational measures introduced in previous seasons remain firmly in place, including:
– The extended swimming zone for safer bathing
– Enhanced cleaning and waste management operations
– Increased security and enforcement on land and at sea
– Lifeguards and emergency response personnel
– Police officers and environmental monitoring teams
– Ongoing patrols throughout the site
Director of Team Blue Lagoon, Mr Aldo Pace, said, ”our mission remains clear: to protect the Blue Lagoon while ensuring visitors can continue enjoying one of Malta’s most iconic natural sites responsibly and safely. The new visitor information booths are another important step towards better visitor management, stronger awareness, and improved accessibility to information before visitors even arrive at Comino.”
CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority, Mr Carlo Micallef, added, “the success of the measures introduced over the past summer has demonstrated that sustainability and tourism can go hand in hand. The Malta Tourism Authority together with Team Blue Lagoon remain fully committed to maintaining high standards throughout Summer 2026 through continued investment in safety, environmental protection, cleanliness, and organisation.”
Team Blue Lagoon encouraged all visitors planning a trip to the Blue Lagoon ”to book in advance and cooperate with onsite personnel to help preserve the unique beauty and ecological importance of Comino for future generations.”
