A 35-year old man from Mellieha sustained serious injuries in a boating accident in Mgarr Harbour, Gozo, on Wednesday afternoon.
In a statement on Thursday, the Police said that the accident happened at around 3.15pm, when the man´s boat overturned. Initial investigations found that he had been in difficulty on the boat before it overturned.
Members of the Armed Forces of Malta brought the man back to Mgarr Harbour from where he was taken by ambulance to the Gozo General Hospital.
He was then transferred to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was certified to have suffered serious injuries.
Magistrate Monica Vella has appointed a Magisterial inquiry.
Police investigations are ongoing.
