Dwejra is a marvellous phenomenon, and it is no wonder that this site has attracted so many millions of tourists throughout the years. The Azure Window natural rock formation is a very spectacular natural landmark of the Maltese Islands, especially during winter when the waves can crash and thunder inside the arch.
Recently San Lawrenz Local Council were notified that the Azure Window is being nominated as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature on the Seven Wonders official website.
The Local Council is currently undergoing discussions with the organisers in charge of this process, so that the council can support the nomination which will enable the Azure Window to then proceed to the next stage by being voted for classification as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
Being one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature is of great significance, mainly because this landmark will be highly promoted worldwide as a site that merits a visit. In other words it will be another great opportunity for attracting more tourists to Gozo.
Once the San Lawrenz Council has been approved as the official nominee, voting will be available on the following link: Vote for The Azure Window

It will be fantastic if the Azure Window is voted as one of the seven wonders of nature, however when all the tourists flock to see it they will be disappointed to see an ugly skeleton structure of concrete spoiling the view. Come on MEPA get it knocked down will you. I hope this will also get proper fencing put up to stop those who care not to read the signs walk all over it!!!!
