Victoria Local Council Mayor Brian Azzopardi, recently welcomed the Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Carolina Darias, on a visit to the Council offices.

The Mayor said that during the meeting there were in-depth discussions on the journey of Victoria and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a city of 400,000 residents towards their respective bids to become the European Capital of Culture 2031.

”It was a valuable exchange of ideas and experiences that further strengthens the relationship and cooperation between our two cities,” said Mayor Azzopardi.

Also present for the meeting were Mr John Xuereb, Director of Culture within the Ministry for Gozo, and Mr Austin Camilleri, Artistic Director of the Victoria 31 Gozo Foundation.

We look forward to building on this collaboration and exploring new opportunities that will benefit Victoria and Gozo.
