Gozitan artist Abigail Macleod, said that her upcoming Golden Branch exhibition is a celebration of memory, beauty, and the quiet moments that shape us. ”Inspired by childhood visits to Brighton’s Royal Pavilion, the exhibition explores how a single experience of wonder can become a lifelong thread of inspiration.”

She explained that through layered wallpaper, spray-painted lace, gold branches, and birds, the work reflects on nature, memory, and spirit, inviting visitors to reconnect with their own moments of wonder.

The exhibition will be open between the 2nd and 29th of August at the Cittadella Cultural Centre Hall 2, from 9am to 5pm.

Throughout the exhibition, creative bird-themed workshops will be held every Saturday, 10am to 12.30pm, welcoming children, families, and anyone who enjoys making.

Abigail is inviting the public to join her for four Saturday morning workshops, inspired by the themes of the exhibition – Golden Branch.

These relaxed, hands-on workshops invite children, families, and anyone who’s creatively curious to explore birds, memory, transformation,and reclaimed materials through art.

Saturday 8th of August: Paint and collage birds. Create your own expressive bird using paint, collage, and layered textures inspired by the exhibition.

Saturday 15th of August: Birds from cloth. Sew a hanging bird from reclaimed fabrics, celebrating the beauty of giving old fabrics new life.

Saturday 22nd of August: Unwritten threads. Create a small artwork using reclaimed wedding dress fabric, inspired by the central installation, ‘Still Becoming.’ Explore themes of transformation, memory, and new beginnings as these fabrics continue their story in new hands.

Saturday 29th of August: Reclaimed wings. Create a free-standing 3D bird sculpture using recycled and reclaimed materials, transforming everyday objects into imaginative works of art.

Abigail said that all workshops run from 10 until 12.30 at Citadel Hall 2, Gozo. Free to attend or by small donation. ”No booking required, simply turn up and join in. Come for one workshop or enjoy them all.”

Each session offers a different opportunity to slow down, make something with your hands, and celebrate the beauty of birds through creativity.
