The San Lawrenz Local Council has ”strongly condemned” the act of vandalism committed at the weekend on the public telescope which is situated in the locality and used for observing the stars.

The Council said that ”this is not only an act of damage to public property but also an act against the whole community, depriving residents and visitors of an educational facility that allows people to appreciate our natural heritage.”

The San Lawrenz Local Council stated that it ”deeply deplores this irresponsible behaviour and appeals to anyone with information to come forward and assist the Police.”

The Police are currently investigating the case to identify those responsible and ensure that the necessary legal action is taken, it said.

The Council concluded by urging everyone to ”help protect our public property and show respect for our community.”
