Nationalist Party Leader Alex Borg, on a visit to Gozo on Friday, spent time at Casa Giuseppe, Customize Nation and Magro Brothers, during a day of meetings with Gozitan elderly residents, workers, entrepreneurs and farmers

”Gozo has the talent, enterprise and people who are ready to invest. What it needs are policies that understand the particular realities of an island and create the right conditions for businesses to grow, quality careers to be created and Gozitan families to have a future in Gozo itself,” the PN Leader said.

Alex Borg said that Gozo should not be regarded merely as a destination or an extension of Malta, but as a place where people can build a business, develop a career, raise a family and grow old with dignity.

At Casa Giuseppe, a new elderly care residence in the centre of Victoria, Alex Borg met residents and staff and spoke about the need for quality care that places the dignity of elderly people at its heart. He stressed that investment in elderly care is also an investment in families, because it gives them peace of mind while enabling elderly people to remain close to their community.

During his visit to Customize Nation in Xewkija, the PN Leader praised the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity of a Gozitan business that designs and manufactures its products in Gozo while serving customers across both islands.

He said that small businesses such as these need more than words of encouragement. ”They need fair competition, reliable infrastructure, access to workers with specialised skills and greater confidence to continue investing.”

The PN Leader also visited the Magro Brothers factory and the fields where tomatoes used in the company’s production are grown. He met workers and farmers and spoke about the importance of manufacturing, exports, local agriculture and food security.

Alex Borg described Magro Brothers as an example of what Gozo can achieve when tradition is combined with investment, innovation and access to international markets. He stressed that a country which loses its capacity to produce becomes more dependent, and Malta should therefore value and support companies that manufacture, export and maintain a direct link with Maltese and Gozitan farmers and livestock breeders.

Alex Borg said ”these three companies demonstrate how the determination, commitment and courage of Gozitan workers can translate into success, employment opportunities and economic growth for Gozo and the Gozitan people.”

“As a Gozitan, I do not want Gozo to be a place young people have to leave in order to succeed. We want it to be a place where they can build a career, a business and a family. Gozitans are not asking for special treatment, but for the right conditions to allow their talent, hard work and investment to succeed,” Alex Borg concluded.
