Gozo Shadow Minister Frank Tabone stated that ”Gozo is not an extension of Malta, the development of Gozo and Comino can no longer be decided with a mentality designed for Malta.”
He stressed that ”Gozo has a different identity, character and realities that require completely separate planning and development policies.”
Tabone insisted that ”it is time for the Government to stop treating Gozo as ‘one size fits all.’ Every Gozitan town and village, including Comino, should have policies that protect their architectural character, historical heritage and environment.”
”This is not only to protect what we have today,” he said, ”but to ensure that future generations inherit a Gozo that still recognises itself.”
The Shadow Minister argued that ”at the same time, the priority should not be more cranes, more concrete and more pressure on the environment. The priority should be investment in more green areas, public spaces and parks where families can spend quality time together.”
”If the Government truly believes in sustainable development, it should start by giving Gozo and Comino the tools to plan their future according to their needs, and not according to the failed model in Malta. Gozo deserves better than this,” concluded Gozo Shadow Minister Frank Tabone.

Excellent words and totally agree, we need to protect Gozo. More green areas for the youngsters to grow and play plus quiet areas for people to relax in.
