Stock of licensed motor vehiclesData released today from the National Statistics Office today show that, during the second quarter of 2026, the stock of licensed motor vehicles increased by 3,086 over the previous quarter.

The stock of licensed motor vehicles increased at a net average rate of 34 motor vehicles per day.

The majority of newly licensed motor vehicles, 4,206 or 58.1% of the total, were passenger cars, followed by motorcycles/E-bikes/PA-bikes with 2,070 or 28.6%.

The NSO data also revealed that petrol-powered engines accounted for 58.0% of the total stock, followed by diesel-powered engines (33.5%), and electric-powered engines (3.9%).

The NSO said that compared to the previous quarter, increases of 9.3%, 6.0% and 5.8% were registered in plug-in hybrid (diesel-electric), mild hybrid (petrol-electric) and plug-in hybrid (petrol-electric) motor vehicles respectively.
