A 51-year-old Italian diver is in a serious condition after finding himself in difficulty while diving in Comino.
The Police said that the diver was brought to Mgarr harbour in Gozo at about 1pm, and assistance was requested as he was unconscious.
He was taken by ambulance to the Gozo General Hospital.
Magistrate Dr Monica Vella has appointed a Magisterial Inquiry.
Police investigations are ongoing.
