Repubblika has expressed its thanks to the ”thousands who yesterday filled Republic Street and Great Siege Square for the Solidarity Protest. Thank you to everyone who came so that, together, we could tell Daphne’s family: you are not alone.”

”But yesterday, we also showed solidarity with one another,” stated Repubblika. ”We reminded each other that we are not alone when we refuse to become inured to corruption, the abuse of power, and impunity. We are not alone when we insist that our country can be better than this.”

The organisation went on to say that ”we have every reason to be heartened by what happened yesterday. But justice is not won in a single protest. Nor is it won after nine years of protests. The road ahead is still long.”It stressed that ”there is still much to be done: to implement long-awaited reforms; to ensure journalists are protected; to seriously combat corruption and organised crime; to free institutions from interference; and to hold those who abuse public power accountable for their actions.”

The organisation stated that ”this cannot be left solely to Repubblika, Occupy Justice, or any other organisation. Our democracy depends on all of us. It depends on citizens who keep asking, keep demanding, keep speaking out, and – when necessary – take to the streets again.”

Repubblika said ”yesterday, we saw just how many of us there are. Today, we start moving forward again.”

”We keep moving. We keep insisting. We stand together – For Daphne. For her family. For justice. For our democracy,” concluded Repubblika.
