A 55-year-old Chinese woman from Qala sustained serious injuries in a traffic accident in Ghajnsielem, Gozo, on Tuesday afternoon.

Police stated that the accident occurred at around 4:15pm on Triq ix-Xatt.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a 27-year-old man from Xewkija was driving a Citroen Berlingo when, for reasons unknown, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wall, resulting in the woman becoming trapped between the wall and the vehicle.

The woman was taken to the Gozo General Hospital, where she was certified as having suffered serious injuries.

Magistrate Dr. Monica Vella was informed of the incident.

Police investigations are ongoing.
