Earlier today 5 German sports divers were rescued by an Armed Forces of Malta patrol boat. They had got into difficulites in strong winds during their dive in an area near to the Azure Window at Dwejra and found that they could not make their own way back to shore.

The police headquarters had alerted the AFM operations’ centre at Luqa to request assistance and the rescue helicopter was sent to aid in the recovery. However, the divers were able to get onboard the patrol boad and from there they were taken to disembark safely at Mgarr harbour.
