For the first time in its history, the Xaghra Local Council is organising a ‘Figs Festival.’ The purpose of the Festival is to increase awareness and provide information about the cultivation of figs which are one of our typically Maltese products.

This festival will be held in the presence of a foreign delegation coming from several countries, including Italy , France and Greece. Xaghra council forms part of ‘The Ficusnet’ which is a network of European cities and villages producing figs. The council’s membership in this network began in November 2009 after a delegation from the Xaghra Local Council attended a Festival Conference related in Carmignano, Italy, at the end of October 2009.
