Heritage Malta will be opening Hagar Qim and Mnajdra free of charge to all visitors this coming Saturday. The two temples and the newly built visitors centre will be open from 09.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs to give the public an opportunity to see the shelters which were erected above the two temples to protect them from the elements and halt the deterioration which was taking place.Heritage Malta will be setting up several Info Points in the visitors centre and in other areas to provide visitors with important background information. There will be information on interpretation and design, the shelters project, stone and object conservation, natural habitats and the scientific studies which were carried out before, during and after the project. There will also be activity areas, including a hands-on pottery display, during which information will be given about the pottery which was excavated in these archaeological sites.

Heritage Malta will be providing free transport to Hagar Qim at 09.00 hrs and 10.00 hrs from opposite the Phoenicia Hotel in Floriana and at 09.30hrs from Cirkewwa. The buses returning to Floriana will leave Hagar Qim at 11.30 hrs and 12.30 hrs respectively while the bus taking visitors back to Cirkewwa leaves at 12.30 hrs.
