The San Lawrenz Local Council said that last week the Ministry for Gozo began the process of the reconstruction of the Dwejra Road, which, along with Triq San Lawrenz has been very badly in need of renovation.

The works on Dwejra Road include the widening of parts of the road, reconstruction of the walls, strengthening, and where needed changing of services leading to Dwejra, finishing off with newly laid tarmac on the surface. Because of the nature and the urgency of the works in progress, during some periods the road will be totally closed to traffic, the council said

The San Lawrenz Council went on to say that it welcomed this project and thanked the Minister of Gozo, as these works are of great importance not only for the village but also for the tourist sector in the island. The council also said that these works, together with the San Lawrenz project fits in well with the goals which the village has set for itself, that of the regeneration of the locality by 2015. The Council also went on to comment on the current projects, that of the restoration of the Church façade and also the project that is intended to commence in the coming months on the rubble walls and later on the square embellishment.
